Ask your MP to put reproductive rights into law

The right to make decisions about our families and bodies is not protected by law. The 1967 Abortion Act allows people to seek abortion under certain circumstances but abortion otherwise remains a crime. As the relentless attack on reproductive rights continues around the world – with the Christian right overturning Roe v Wade in the US – prosecutions are surging here in the UK.

A critical window is opening in parliament, where Stella Creasy MP has tabled an amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill that would put the right to make decisions about our lives and families on to the statute book.

When women seek abortions outside of medical settings, there are almost always extenuating and traumatic circumstances. Those women should be supported, not criminalised.

And when women lose pregnancies, they should be supported, not investigated for a criminal offence.

The time to act is now.

Creasy has proposed amendment NC20, which would make accessing abortion care a human right. We stand firmly behind her. Add your voice to this campaign. Tell your MP that we need to reform the law so that women, partners, and medical professionals are protected from criminal prosecution.

A tidal wave of hate is crashing down on reproductive rights – we must stop it before it’s too late.
